With Power Play, players have an opportunity to increase their Powerball prizes. By purchasing the Power Play option – for an extra $1 per Powerball play – players can boost Powerball prizes (except the jackpot) by 2, 3, 4 or 5 times the original prize amount. Power Play must be added at the time of Powerball ticket purchase.

The Power Play multiplier number is selected before the Powerball numbers are drawn on each Powerball drawing night. A spin wheel with 16 slots numbered 2 through 5 (four slots for each number on the wheel) is used to select the Power Play multiplier number. Match 5 winners who added Power Play for that drawing will automatically win 5 times the regular prize amount - $1 million - no matter what Power Play number was drawn. In some cases, this prize may be paid on a pari-mutuel basis and will be lower. All other players who have purchased winning Power Play tickets will see their prizes (except the jackpot) multiply by the Power Play number that was drawn.

The table below outlines the prize payments for each Power Play multiplier, which is 2 to 5 times the base prize (but does not apply to the jackpot).

Power Play is purely optional. The prizes for those winning Powerball tickets that did not include the Power Play option remain the same as always. Powerball tickets cannot be canceled.
