St. Cloud Resident Wins $200,000 Powerball^® Prize

JUNE 15, 2009 — Stan Brown of St. Cloud won $200,000 on a Powerball ticket he purchased for the drawing on April 29, 2009 from SuperAmerica, 2200 W. Division St. in St. Cloud. The first five numbers on Brown’s quick-pick ticket matched the numbers 6-19-36-50-59 (the Powerball was 13) drawn on April 29 to win $200,000.

Brown doesn’t always check his tickets immediately after the drawing. He said he “has a spot where they (the tickets) build up.” If he happens to stop at a store at a time when they aren’t busy, Brown will ask the clerk to check the tickets. He had some tickets checked on May 31, but the clerk’s response surprised and puzzled him — after checking one of the tickets on the Lottery terminal, she told Brown he had to take the ticket to the Lottery.

He went online to look up the winning numbers for April 29 and learned he won $200,000. Brown said he didn’t believe it until he contacted the Lottery to verify his win.

Brown claimed the prize at Lottery headquarters in Roseville on June 12.

Powerball is the multi-state lotto game that offers players nine ways to win. Players select five numbers from 1 to 59 and a Powerball, from 1 to 39. The jackpot is won by matching all five numbers plus the Powerball. Approximate odds of winning a cash prize are 1 in 35.1 and approximately 1 in 195.2 million to win the jackpot.

For an extra $1 per Powerball play, players can purchase the Power Play® option to multiply their prizes (except the jackpot) by two, three, four or five times. A Power Play wheel randomly draws the Power Play number before the winning Powerball numbers are drawn. Players can win up to $1 million with Power Play.
