Maple Grove Resident Wins $56,431 Northstar Cash® Prize

JULY 2, 2008 — Maple Grove resident Arnulf Leier regularly buys Northstar Cash tickets. Because the jackpot for the July 1 drawing was an advertised $110,000, Leier said he made a special trip yesterday afternoon to buy five additional tickets for that night’s drawing. “I bought a few more tickets than normal because it [the jackpot] was up there,” he said.

Leier drove to Gas America, 7117 Bass Lake Road in New Hope to purchase the tickets because “something said to go to that one [store],” Leier recalled.

The fifth line of that quick-pick ticket was one of two tickets to match all five numbers drawn (11-12-15-26-30) on July 1 to split the $112,862 jackpot. Each ticket was worth $56,431.

As he claimed the prize at Lottery headquarters in Roseville earlier today, Leier chuckled and said, “My horoscope said I was going to have a windfall.”

The second $56,431 jackpot prize was claimed by Ciera Ramsey of St. Paul.

A Northstar Cash jackpot ticket worth $25,000 from the drawing on July 25, 2007 (sold in Ramsey County) has not yet been claimed. Players have one year from the date of the drawing to claim all prizes.

To play Northstar Cash, players select five numbers from 1 to 31. Matching the five numbers drawn wins the jackpot, which starts at $25,000 and grows until it is won. Players also win by matching 2, 3 or 4 of the numbers drawn.

Northstar Cash drawings are conducted daily after the Daily 3® drawing. Tickets must be purchased by 6:10 p.m. on the day of the drawing.
