Burnsville Resident Wins $38,448 Northstar Cash^® Prize

JUNE 30, 2009 — Burnsville resident Phil Stravens won the $38,448 Northstar Cash jackpot from the drawing held on June 26.

“I didn’t believe it,” recalled Stravens, who discovered his win the following morning.

“I was in shock.” After the initial shock died down, the excitement began to rise for Stravens. He arrived at the Lottery’s headquarters in Roseville on June 29 to claim the prize.

Kwik Trip, located at 16260 Kenrick Ave. in Lakeville, sold the winning ticket.

The following Northstar Cash jackpots are currently unclaimed: $28,000 from the drawing on July 16, 2008 (sold in Stearns County), $57,277 from the drawing on June 19, 2009 (sold in Stearns County), $13,000 from the drawing on June 28, 2009 (sold in Becker County) and $13,000 from the drawing on June 28, 2009 (sold in Brown County). Northstar Cash players have one year from the date of the drawing to claim their prizes.

To play Northstar Cash, players select five numbers from 1 to 31. Matching the five numbers drawn wins the jackpot, which starts at $25,000 and grows until it is won. Players also win by matching 2, 3 or 4 of the numbers drawn. 

Northstar Cash drawings are conducted daily after the Daily 3® drawing. Tickets must be purchased by 6:10 p.m. on the day of the drawing.
