Brooklyn Park Man Wins $200,000 Powerball® Prize

Felipe RosadoJUlY 16, 2008 - Winning a $200,000 Powerball prize would probably come as a surprise to most people, but not to Felipe Rosado.

Rosado, an ironworker from Brooklyn Park, said he always knew he was going to win. “It was in my head,” he said when he arrived at the Lottery’s headquarters in Roseville on July 15 to claim the prize.

Rosado says his win came to him by incorporating spiritual meditation, positive thinking and visualization into his daily routine, much like the philosophies based in a recent book he read. “It [winning the Lottery] has a lot to do with state of mind,” he said. “If you are happy and grateful then it will come back to you.”

It came back to Rosado in a big way on Saturday, July 12, when the first line of his five- line ticket matched the first five winning numbers drawn (2-12-20-22-50 –  the Powerball was 17) to win a $200,000 Powerball prize.

Rosado, who picked his own numbers, has been playing the same set of numbers for approximately three weeks and says he will continue to use them when playing Powerball.

Tom’s Superette, located at 2402 E. 38th St. in Minneapolis, sold the winning ticket.

A $200,000 Powerball prize from the Feb. 13, 2008 drawing (sold in Stearns County) is still unclaimed. Players have one year from the date of the drawing to claim all prizes.

Powerball is the multi-state lotto game that offers players nine ways to win. Players select five numbers from 1 to 55 and a Powerball, from 1 to 42. The jackpot is won by matching all five numbers plus the Powerball. Approximate odds of winning a cash prize are 1 in 36.6 and approximately 1 in 146 million to win the jackpot.

For an extra $1 per Powerball play, players can purchase the Power Play® option to multiply their prizes (except the jackpot) by two, three, four or five times. A Power Play wheel randomly draws the Power Play number before the winning Powerball numbers are drawn. A Match 5 winner ($200,000) who purchased the Power Play option could win up to $1 million!

Lottery players must be 18 years of age or older. Please play responsibly. If you or someone you know needs help with a gambling problem, call (800) 333-HOPE.
