Columbia Heights Resident Wins $100,000 Lottery Prize
JULY 22, 2009 — Maphyu Swe of Columbia Heights said that her husband had a dream the night of July 20 that he won the Lottery, and the next morning he told her they should buy a lottery ticket. They stopped at SuperAmerica, 300 N.E. Broadway in Minneapolis and purchased a Platinum Payout scratch ticket.
The couple then joined other family members at a restaurant, where she scratched the ticket and found that one of her numbers matched one of the winning numbers. The prize was $100,000. “I was surprised,” Swe recalled. “I didn’t say anything — I showed my husband. We made sure the top number (14) and our number (14) matched. My aunt took out her glasses to check it!” she exclaimed.
Swe claimed the prize at Lottery headquarters in Roseville on July 21.
The overall odds of winning a prize by playing Platinum Payout are 1 in 3.52. One of five $100,000 top prizes remains to be claimed.
