Osseo Man Wins $100,000 Lottery Prize

JULY 23, 2009 — Scott Wilbanks of Osseo is the first player to claim a $100,000 prize from the Lottery’s WPT® Texas Hold ‘Em® scratch game.

Wilbanks purchased the winning ticket at Go For It Gas, located at 7820 Lakeland Ave. N. in Brooklyn Park, on July 21 while taking a break from work. “I just went to get a soda and decided to try the Hold ‘Em game,” said the avid scratch player. Excited to try his luck, Wilbanks immediately scratched the ticket at the C-store and soon realized he had a $100,000 winner. “I was pretty shocked,” he recalled at the Lottery’s headquarters on July 22 where he claimed his prize. “I called my wife to let her know we won and she didn’t believe me,” he explained. “She had to see it to believe it.”

WPT® Texas Hold ‘Em® is a $5 scratch game that offers a $100,000 top prize. There are currently four of five $100,000 prizes remaining. The overall odds of winning a prize are 1 in 3.66.

Here’s how to play: To play each table, use “your two cards” and the “community cards” to make your best 5-card poker hand. Then use “their two cards” and the “community cards” to make their best 5-card poker hand. If, at the same table, your best 5-card poker hand beats their best 5-card poker hand, you win the prize shown for that table. “All In” Bonus – If any of “your chip counts” is more than “their chip,” you win prize for that chip. If you uncover “All In,” you automatically win all 11 prizes on the ticket!
