International Falls Resident Wins $25,000 Northstar Cash® Prize
 JULY 23, 2009 — Eugene Pierce of International Falls plays the Lottery’s Northstar Cash game every day. He selects his own numbers using a combination of birthdates for himself, his wife, his two daughters and his granddaughter.
Pierce missed the televised drawing on Sunday, July 19 so on Monday morning he drove to the business where he buys his tickets, Forestland Sales, 1111 – 3rd St. in International Falls, to check his ticket against the winning numbers drawn on July 19. “I scanned it and I told the gal at the gas station that something is wrong — it’s not showing anything,” Pierce recalled. “She said, ‘Let me see your ticket.’ She looked at it and said, ‘You just won $25,000!’ I came home and told my wife and she didn’t believe me,” Pierce chuckled.
The winning Northstar cash numbers for July 19 are 5-17-22-24-29.
To play Northstar Cash, players select five numbers from 1 to 31. Matching the five numbers drawn wins the jackpot, which starts at $25,000 and grows until it is won. Players also win by matching 2, 3 or 4 of the numbers drawn.
Northstar Cash drawings are conducted daily after the Daily 3® drawing. Tickets must be purchased by 6:10 p.m. on the day of the drawing.
