St. Cloud Resident Wins $500,000 Lottery Prize
 AUGUST 12, 2008 - A St. Cloud woman says her “faith” led her to win a half million dollar Lottery prize.
“I don’t believe things just happen,” Lorraine Lang explained when she arrived at the Lottery’s office in Roseville on Aug. 11 where she claimed the $500,000 prize, “I believe my faith led me to the right place and time.”
“The right place and time,” for Lang happened on Aug. 9 when she decided to make a quick stop at Cash Wise Foods, located at 113 S. Waite Ave. in Waite Park, for a couple loaves of bread. While there, she also decided to try her luck on the Lottery’s newest $20 scratch game, $500,000 Extravaganza. Lang walked out with more than she expected — a $500,000 winning ticket! “I couldn’t believe it,” she recalled.
Although Lang hasn’t decided what she is going to do with her new windfall, she says she hopes to give back to people who are less fortunate.
$500,000 Extravaganza is a $20 scratch game that offers players a chance to win a $500,000 top prize. Three of five $500,000 prizes remain in the game. The overall odds of winning a prize are 1 in 2.99.
