Glenwood Resident Wins $100,000 Lottery Prize

AUGUST 3, 2009 — John “Jack” Stackpool of Glenwood claimed a $100,000 prize at the Lottery’s office in Roseville on July 31.

Stackpool has known for almost a month that a WPT® Texas Hold ’Em® ticket that he purchased at Tom’s Food Pride, located at 19 W. Minnesota Ave. in Glenwood, was a $100,000 winner. Because of an out-of-state wedding and other commitments, he was forced to put the ticket “in a safe place” and wait to claim it.

When he scratched the ticket in early July and uncovered the $100,000 win, Stackpool found it hard to believe that it was real. “I had all kinds of doubts.” He wondered, “Am I really seeing what’s in front of me?” After he had the ticket scanned at a Lottery retailer a few days later, he finally believed that it was real. That’s when Stackpool shared the news with his wife; that day happened to be her birthday. As far as future birthday surprises go, “I told her that I’m not going to be able to top this,” he said.

WPT® Texas Hold ’Em® is a $5 scratch game that offers a $100,000 top prize. There are currently three of five $100,000 prizes remaining. The overall odds of winning a prize are 1 in 3.66.

Here’s how to play: To play each table, use “your two cards” and the “community cards” to make your best 5-card poker hand. Then use “their two cards” and the “community cards” to make their best 5-card poker hand. If, at the same table, your best 5-card poker hand beats their best 5-card poker hand, you win the prize shown for that table. “All In” Bonus – If any of “your chip counts” is more than “their chip,” you win the prize for that chip. If you uncover “All In,” you automatically win all 11 prizes on the ticket!
