McGregor Resident Wins $200,000 Powerball® Prize

Audrey and Roger EngAudrey and Roger EngJANUARY 23, 2008 — Audrey Eng of McGregor won the $200,000 Powerball prize from the Jan. 19 drawing.

Eng says she discovered her win after watching the drawing show on Saturday night. “I always have to see the Powerball numbers before I go to bed — always,” she said. That night she realized that her single line quick-pick ticket matched the first five winning numbers 20-23-25-27-28 (the Powerball was 2) to win the $200,000 prize.

Her husband, Roger, had to call the winning numbers hotline to make sure she was right. “I just couldn’t believe it,” he said.

The couple arrived at the Lottery’s office in Roseville yesterday where Eng claimed the prize.

The winning ticket was sold at McGregor Self Serve, located at 208 Highway 210 E. in McGregor.

Powerball is the multi-state lotto game that offers players nine ways to win. Players select five numbers from 1 to 55 and a Powerball number, from 1 to 42. The jackpot is won by matching all five numbers plus the Powerball. Approximate odds of winning a cash prize are 1 in 36.6 and approximately 1 in 146 million to win the jackpot.

For an extra $1 per Powerball play, players can purchase the Power Play® option to multiply their prizes (except the jackpot) by two, three, four or five times. A Power Play wheel randomly draws the Power Play number before the winning Powerball numbers are drawn. A Match 5 winner ($200,000) who purchased the Power Play option could win up to $1 million!
