Brook Park Resident Wins $200,000 Powerball® Prize
AUGUST 18, 2009 — Brook Park resident Sherry Jackson is a loyal Powerball player. “I always play no matter what the jackpot is at,” she said. Jackson’s persistency paid off in a big way on Aug. 12 when the fifth line of her five-line quick-pick ticket matched the first five winning numbers drawn to win $200,000.
“It was hard to believe,” she recalled on Aug. 17 at the Lottery’s headquarters in Roseville as she claimed her prize.
Holiday, located at 700 S. Highway 65 in Mora, sold the winning ticket.
The winning Powerball numbers from Aug. 12 were 10-25-32-34-47 and the Powerball was 5.
Powerball is the multi-state lotto game that offers players nine ways to win. Players select five numbers from 1 to 59 and a Powerball, from 1 to 39. The jackpot is won by matching all five numbers plus the Powerball. Approximate odds of winning a cash prize are 1 in 35.1 and approximately 1 in 195.2 million to win the jackpot.
For an extra $1 per Powerball play, players can purchase the Power Play® option to multiply their prizes (except the jackpot) by two, three, four or five times. A Power Play wheel randomly draws the Power Play number before the winning Powerball numbers are drawn. Players can win up to $1 million with Power Play.
