St. Paul Resident Breathless Over $78,466 Northstar Cash Jackpot Win

FEBRUARY 12, 2008 — Terry Schwartz of St. Paul won the $78,466 Northstar Cash jackpot from the Feb. 8 drawing. After watching the Lottery’s drawing show on Friday evening, Schwartz checked his 10 line quick-pick ticket and “lost his breath” after discovering that the fourth line matched the first four numbers drawn. “I started hyperventilating,” he recalled. Schwartz “peeked” at the last number and discovered that it too was a perfect match. “That’s when I really lost it,” he said.

Schwartz went to the nearest convenience store to get a print out of the winning numbers to verify his win. That’s where he found out that he was the sole winner of the $78,466 Northstar Cash jackpot. His ticket matched all five winning numbers (2-7-11-21-27). 

Mini Market, located at 2019 E. Minnehaha Ave. in St. Paul, sold the winning ticket.

A Northstar Cash jackpot worth $25,000 from the drawing on July 25, 2007 (sold in Ramsey County) has not yet been claimed. Northstar Cash players have one year from the date of the drawing to claim their prize.

To play Northstar Cash, players select five numbers from 1 to 31. Matching the five numbers drawn wins the jackpot, which starts at $25,000 and grows until it is won. Players also win by matching 2, 3 or 4 of the numbers drawn. 

Northstar Cash drawings are conducted daily after the Daily 3® drawing. Tickets must be purchased by 6:10 p.m. on the day of the drawing.
