St. Paul Resident Picks Up $100,000 Winning Scratch Ticket on His Way to Work

David FuhsFEBRUARY 25, 2008 — David Fuhs of St. Paul was on his way to work on Friday, Feb. 22 when he stopped at Holiday, 500 E. 7th St. in St. Paul and purchased a Minnesota Hold ’Em Scratch ticket. When he got to work, he scratched the ticket while sitting in his car and saw it was a $100,000 winner.

“I ran into work, showed everybody and said, ‘I’m leaving,’” said Fuhs. From there, he drove to the Lottery’s headquarters in Roseville to claim the prize.

“I definitely didn’t wake up this morning thinking I’d be here this afternoon,” Fuhs said as he claimed the prize. “This is definitely the best thing that’s ever happened to me.”

As he waited for his prize check, Fuhs said that the win still hadn’t really sunk in. A little while later when he was holding the check in his hands, he said, “Holy cow — it’s sunk in.”

The overall odds to win a prize playing Minnesota Hold ’Em are 1 in 3.63. Three of six $100,000 prizes remain to be claimed. To play the $5 Minnesota Hold ’Em Scratch Game, simply scratch the play areas to reveal the games. Here’s how to play:

  1. Begin by scratching the eight Hand areas and the Pro’s Hand area on each table to reveal two cards in each area.

  2. Scratch the Community Cards on each Table to reveal the five cards.

  3. For each Hand and the Pro’s Hand, determine the highest value five card poker hand using one or both symbols in your hand combination with the five Community Cards.

  4. If any Hand’s five card combination has a higher value than the corresponding Pro’s Hand five card combination, you win the prize for that hand. (Each table is played separately. Aces are high.)

All In Bonus: If any one of Your Chip Count numbers matches the High Chip Count number, you win the prize shown. If any one of Your Chip Count numbers is greater than the High Chip Count number, you win all 10 prizes automatically.
