Osakis Resident Wins $200,000 Lottery Prize
 SEPTEMBER 17, 2009 — Richard Thornbloom of Osakis stopped at Paul’s Pump and Pantry, 610 Nokomis St. E. in Osakis, yesterday morning (Sept. 16) for a pop and some doughnuts for work. “It came to $2 and I had $13, so I said, ‘Give me one of those [MONOPOLY™] tickets,’” he recalled.
Thornbloom went out to his car and scratched the ticket. After revealing the $200,000 prize, Thornbloom said, “I didn’t know what to do. I thought, ‘Wow! Nobody is going to believe this!’” He went back inside and checked the ticket on the Lottery ticket checker. After showing the ticket to the store owner, “He went ballistic!” Thornbloom said.
He called his wife at work to share his exciting news. “She didn’t believe me, but I did get through to her that I did win.” Thornbloom then drove to work, where he shut the machines off and shared his news with his brother-in-law by stating, “You have to listen to this.”
Thornbloom claimed the $200,000 prize at Lottery headquarters in Roseville on Sept. 16.
