White Bear Lake Man Reels in Lund® Boat Prize Package
 OCTOBER 9, 2008 - John Gerstner of White Bear Lake caught a keeper of a prize — a Lund® 1850 Tyee boat package worth more than $66,000 — through the Lottery’s Hook, Lund® and Sinker scratch game and second-chance promotion.
As the grand prize winner from the second-chance drawing held on Sept. 18, Gerstner received a 2008 Lund® 1850 Tyee OBGS boat, 2008 Mercury 175XL Verado 4-stroke motor and a 2008 Shoreland’r custom painted Bunk trailer (the prize includes state and federal tax withholdings paid).
The weekend before Gerstner found out he was the grand prize winner he said he was “joking around that it was almost time for me to win the boat.” A couple of days later, it happened. “I was actually speechless,” he recalled. Gerstner said he had a hard time breaking the good news to his wife because she didn’t believe him. “I thought he was lying,” said his wife Beth. But once she realized he wasn’t kidding, she was just as excited as he. “We both had a big grin on our face that night,” she noted. “Actually, I think we did for that whole week,” he added.
Still grinning, the couple traveled to New York Mills on Oct. 8 to tour the Lund® plant and to see Gerstner’s new boat.
“This couldn’t have come at a better time for us,” he commented. “We just bought a house in White Bear Lake so we’re only one mile away from the lake.”
Excited for next years’ fishing season, Gerstner said, “I already told my friends that fishing opener is on me next spring.”
The Minnesota State Lottery teamed up with Lund® Boat Company to offer the Hook, Lund® and Sinker scratch game for the chance to win one of two Lund® boat prize packages worth $66,621. Jeff Gallaher of Wahpeton, N.D. was the first boat winner in the second-chance drawing held in June.
