Woodbury Man Wins $49,735 Northstar Cash Jackpot

APRIL 8, 2008 — David F. Schwietz of Woodbury won the $49,735 Northstar Cash jackpot from the April 4 drawing. Schwietz’s single-line quick-pick ticket matched all five winning numbers (2-8-9-25-27) to hit the jackpot.

Schwietz discovered his jackpot win on the night of the drawing after calling the Lottery’s winning numbers hotline. “I couldn’t believe it,” recalled Schwietz. “So I had to call again just to make sure.” After verifying his win a second time, the good news began to sink in for Schwietz and his wife Shirley. “We were both very excited!” he said at the Lottery’s headquarters in Roseville on April 7 when he claimed the prize.

Schwietz purchased the winning ticket at Cub Foods, 8432 Tamarack Village in Woodbury.   

A Northstar Cash jackpot worth $25,000 from the drawing on July 25, 2007 (purchased in Ramsey County) has not yet been claimed. Northstar Cash players have one year from the date of the drawing to claim their prize.

To play Northstar Cash, players select five numbers from 1 to 31. Matching the five numbers drawn wins the jackpot, which starts at $25,000 and grows until it is won. Players also win by matching 2, 3 or 4 of the numbers drawn.
