$200,000 Powerball® Win Leads to “High 5s”

OCTOBER 23, 2009 — On Oct. 4 Bruce Fischbach of Inver Grove Heights bought a five-line quick-pick ticket for the Oct. 7 Powerball drawing. He didn’t check his tickets until Oct. 17, when he discovered he won $200,000.

Fischbach said he and a buddy stopped at a store on their way to Wisconsin on the 17th. While in the store, he asked for a printout of the winning numbers from the Oct. 7 drawing. “Later that night I pulled them out and looked at them,” Fischbach said. Because the first five numbers on the second line of his ticket matched those drawn, Fischbach won a $200,000 prize. “There was a little bit of ‘high fiv’n’ going on!” he said with a chuckle.

Fischbach claimed the prize at Lottery headquarters in Roseville on Oct. 22. The winning Powerball numbers for Oct. 7 are 2-20-21-38-50 and the Powerball is 22.

The winning ticket was purchased at SuperAmerica, 7501 Concord Blvd. in Inver Grove Heights.

Powerball is the multi-state lotto game that offers players nine ways to win. Players select five numbers from 1 to 59 and a Powerball, from 1 to 39. The jackpot is won by matching all five numbers plus the Powerball. Approximate odds of winning a cash prize are 1 in 35.1 and approximately 1 in 195.2 million to win the jackpot.

For an extra $1 per Powerball play, players can purchase the Power Play® option to multiply their prizes (except the jackpot) by two, three, four or five times. A Power Play wheel randomly draws the Power Play number before the winning Powerball numbers are drawn. Players can win up to $1 million with Power Play.

Lottery players must be 18 years of age or older. Please play responsibly. If you or someone you know needs help with a gambling problem, call (800) 333-HOPE.
