Gilbert Resident Wins $200,000 Lottery Prize

OCTOBER 29, 2009 — Sam Stirewalt of Gilbert needed to get gas, so he stopped at Holiday, Highway 135 & Summit St. in Gilbert before work on Oct. 28 to fill up his tank. He also bought two Red White & Blue™ Slots scratch tickets.

Stirewalt scratched the tickets later that day while he was waiting for his daughter to finish her drivers training. There were three money bags on the sixth line of one of the tickets, and the prize legend indicated the prize was $200,000. Stirewalt didn’t believe he won the top prize until he studied the ticket and couldn’t find a way that it wasn’t a winning ticket.

He called his wife, Lana, at work and told her, “We might have to go to Minneapolis tomorrow.” She said she didn’t believe him at the time, but when she got home and looked at the ticket she said, “It’s a winner!”

The couple drove to the Lottery’s headquarters in Roseville on Oct. 28 to claim the prize.

Red White & Blue™ Slots is a $10 scratch game that offers a top prize of $200,000. There are currently four of five $200,000 prizes remaining to be claimed. The overall odds of winning a prize by playing the Red White & Blue™ Slots scratch game are 1 in 2.99.
