Brooklyn Park Resident Wins $100,000 Lottery Prize

JUNE 3, 2008 — Timothy Graen of Brooklyn Park says he never buys two scratch tickets in a row. “I don’t think that’s lucky,” he explained. However, on Friday, May 30 while he was redeeming $26 in winning Lottery tickets, he decided to purchase two $5 High Stakes scratch tickets. Graen proved his theory wrong after discovering that the second ticket he purchased ended up being a $100,000 winner!

“I couldn’t believe it,” recalled Graen at the Lottery’s headquarters in Roseville on June 2, when he claimed his prize. “Up until this morning — I still didn’t think that I won.”

Graen purchased the winning ticket at Holiday, located at 8500 Edinburgh Centre Drive in Brooklyn Park.

High Stakes is a $5 casino-style scratch game that offers players 17 chances to win the high stakes — a $100,000 top prize. Four of five $100,000 prizes remain in the game. The overall odds of winning a prize are 1 in 3.5.
