Lino Lakes Resident Wins $100,000 Lottery Prize

JUNE 6, 2008 — Linda Shamp of Lino Lakes won $100,000 by playing the Lottery’s Hook, Lund® and Sinker scratch game.

Shamp purchased the winning ticket at Cub Foods, located at 4205 Pheasant Ridge Drive in Blaine, because she was hoping that the ticket would be a non-winner so she could enter it in the Lottery’s second-chance promotion for a chance to win a new boat.

She took the ticket home to play. As she scratched the ticket, she saw that it was a winner and proceeded to uncover the prize amount. “I saw zeros and I thought that maybe I won $1,000,” Shamp recalled. As she continued to uncover the prize, she saw that it was actually $100,000. “I couldn’t believe it,” she said.

Shamp said that her husband mentioned buying a new boat with the prize money, but she is still hoping to win the boat in the Lottery’s second-chance promotion.

The $5 Hook, Lund® and Sinker scratch game offers instant cash prizes up to $100,000. But the real catch is two Lund® 1850 Tyee boat packages — valued at $66,621 — which players can win through a second-chance drawing. The overall odds to win a prize playing the Hook, Lund® and Sinker scratch game are 1 in 3.78. Currently, four of seven $100,000 prizes remain to be claimed.

To play the game, simply scratch the play area to reveal your Winning Numbers. If any of your 20 numbers match the Winning Numbers, you win the prize shown below the winning number. Reveal a hook symbol and you’ll win double the prize. Uncover a money bag symbol to automatically win a Fast $25 or a double money bag symbol to win a Fast $50.

To enter the second-chance drawing, players can mail in non-winning Hook, Lund® and Sinker scratch tickets or enter them on the Lottery’s Web site at mnlottery.com. Entries must be received by June 12, 2008 to qualify for the first drawing and by Sept. 16, 2008 to qualify for the second drawing. In addition to the Lund® boat packages, seven $500 cash prizes will also be awarded in each drawing.
