Kay Hughes won $100,000 playing Fireball 7s.

“Seven is my lucky number,” said Kay Hughes of Crystal. So, it’s no surprise that when she visited Amstar in Brooklyn Park on Oct. 8, the Fireball 7s scratch game caught her eye. She purchased one of the $5 tickets and played it immediately in her car. The last number that she scratched had a 7 symbol to win a $100,000 top prize.

“I was kind of in disbelief,” recalled Hughes. “I kept squeezing my eyes. I thought something must be lined up wrong.”

Hughes’ disbelief slowly began to fade away by the time she arrived at Lottery headquarters in Roseville on Oct. 9 to claim her prize.

Kay said the timing of her big win couldn’t have been better. “I’m getting ready to retire so this will help out a lot! I’m going to have some fun with it, I know that!”
