If you haven't visited lately, head up highway 61 to a true North Shore icon. Split Rock Lighthouse was constructed after the 1905 gales of November resulted in 30 shipwrecks on Lake Superior. Completed in 1910 it soon became one of Minnesota's most photographed and visited spots. Learn about its history while you take in the breathtaking views of Lake Superior.

Split Rock Lighthouse lies on the Gitchi-Gami State Trail along Minnesota’s North Shore. More than $3 million in Lottery proceeds helped design, engineer and construct segments of the trail that winds through birch and aspen forests, crosses waterfalls and travels through small towns.
