We rounded up some of the ways Lottery proceeds are helping to make your next Minnesnowta adventure even more beautiful this season:

Improving water quality in our land of 10,000+ lakes

Through the Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund, Lottery proceeds have supported numerous research initiatives to help protect and improve the water quality of Minnesota’s lakes, rivers and streams so we can enjoy our land of 10,000 lakes all year long. The options are endless for outdoor adventure—from ice fishing to ice skating and pond hockey, there’s a little something for everyone.

Expanding Minnesota’s state and regional trails

Lottery proceeds have also been used to expand more than half of Minnesota’s state trails plus several regional trails, including the Mesabi Trail, which is one of the longest paved trails in the United States. Minnesota’s state trails include more than 22,000 miles of snowmobile trails and sections of the Mesabi Trail are also ready for snowmobilers. Rev up your engines and get out and explore these unique landscapes.

Enhancing Minnesota’s state parks

Lottery proceeds have helped expand, manage, or develop more than half of Minnesota’s 67 state parks, which provide a playground for all Minnesotans to enjoy this winter. Snowshoeing, sledding and cross-country skiing are just a few options to get out and play during the winter wonderland. Some state parks even offer nighttime candlelight cross country skiing events. With trails brightened by lanterns or luminaries, Minnesota winter nights have never been so magical.

Protecting Minnesota’s wildlife

From moose, to bison, wolves, birds and the bees, lottery proceeds have been protecting Minnesota’s unique array of wildlife by restoring their natural landscapes and habitats to protect our most precious creatures for future generations. Bundle up and explore Minnesota’s winter wildlife. You never know what you might find.

The Lottery has generated more than $3 billion for Minnesota—improving our state of life in every county across Minnesota. Check out how we are Playing our Part to learn more.
