For more than three decades, we’ve been doing something special - listening to YOU! That’s right, since 1993, the Minnesota Lottery has been partnering with Saint Cloud State University and now, Winona State University, to conduct an annual survey about how Minnesotans feel about lotteries, gambling and the games we offer.
From Rotary Phones to Clickable Links ️
Back in 1993, we were dialing up Minnesotans on their landlines, hoping they’d pick up between episodes of Cheers or The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. Fast forward to today, and we’ve traded in the busy signals for email invitations and postcard mailings with a simple link to our online survey. Now, you can share your thoughts while streaming the most current season of Love is Blind: Minneapolis or binging Modern Family.
Why Are We Asking?
If you are invited to take the survey, think of it as your chance to be heard. Whether you play the lottery every week, only grab a ticket when the jackpot is high, a scratch ticket around the holidays, or don’t play at all—your opinion matters! We want to understand how residents across Minnesota feel about gaming, entertainment choices, and the role the lottery plays in our communities.
This survey is a long-standing, legitimate research effort to ensure that the Minnesota Lottery continues to meet the needs and wants of Minnesotans in a responsible and fun way.
What Happens to Your Answers?
Great question! After the university researchers collect responses, they analyze the data and share insights with leadership at the Minnesota Lottery to help us understand things like:
-Why people choose to play (or not play) the Minnesota Lottery
-What types of games Minnesotans enjoy the most
-How attitudes about gambling have changed over time
Your feedback isn’t just for fun—it helps the Minnesota Lottery stay exciting. Plus, it ensures the lottery can continue funding parks & trails, lakes, education, health care, and so much more!
How Can You Participate? 📝
If you are invited to take the survey, either through a postcard invitation in the mail or an email with a link from the Lottery, we hope you’ll consider participating! It’s quick, easy. Plus, it’s completely anonymous—so you can be honest about your thoughts.
After all, 30+ years of listening means we know one thing for sure—Minnesotans have a lot to say, and we’re here for it.
Thanks for being part of this important conversation. Let’s keep the tradition going!
